The Women’s Development Cell of Ashaddep Adhyapak Mahavidyala (AAM)The objectives of the Cell are: |
- To create social awareness about the problems of women
- To equip student-teachers with skills to deal with social problems faced by women
- To empower student teachers with knowledge , skills and attitude to curb child sexual abuse
- To collaborate with organizations working in the area of women empowerment
- To organize programmes for empowerment of female students
- To promote holisitc well-being of female students, teaching and non teaching women staff of the college
Activities of the cell in 2019-20
Understanding the importance of educating adolescent girl child, AAM has designed Awareness camp (Jagruti Shibir) for the adolescent girls. Sessions on hygiene for adolescent girls were conducted by Second Year B.Ed. students. These sessions were conducted for girls of tribal areas. Talks included information on personal hygiene, hormonal changes during adolescence and menstrual hygiene. Main themes covered during the Adolescent Camps were :
- Life Skills and Personal development
- Child Rights
- Health, Hygiene and Nutrients
- Gender equality
- Parts of the Human Body, Changes due to adolescent stage, Menstrual Hygiene, Reproductive process in Human.
- Awareness on AIDS
- Sexual abuse and child trafficking
- Social awareness
- Yoga and Pranayama
Activities of the Cell in 2018-19
The Women Cell organized a Seminar on “Women Empowerment & Human Rights. The seminar was divided into three sub themes –
(a) “Violence against Women: Challenges before Law”,
(b) “Development, women’s rights & 21st Century”, and
(c) “Media and Women empowerment”.
The expert Dr. Priyanka Pandey spoke about the ground realities and the challenges of protection of human rights and women empowerment. On International Women’s Day, special inputs highlighted issues pertinent to women empowerment. Throughout the year, socially relevant themes such as Save the Girl Child, Women Empowerment and Gender Equality were emphasized through assemblies.
Activities of the Cell in 2017-18
A display on Women Achievers was organized by AAM Women’s Cell. This included a display of charts and posters to highlight the contributions of women achievers. Demonstrations in self defence were conducted by Mr. Akshay Bhoye.
Special assemblies were conducted to mark Women’s Day and Girl Child day. A course in yoga stressing on exercises for women was organised. Students were given inputs regarding proper diet to be maintained for good physical and mental health.
