EVENT – DEBATE AND DISCUSSION VENUE – COLLEGE HALL
DATE – 09/12/2023 TIME – 10:00 AM
Ashadeep Adhyapak Mahavidyalaya, B.Ed. college had conducted a debate and discussion event on 9th December 2023. For this event different groups participated and talked on different topics. In which our group also participated and we emphasised on the topic of gender equality. After the introduction of the event we started our debate followed by a discussion on the pre-planned topic named – GENDER EQUALITY. We started with the fact of describing how girls are better than boys and vice versa. For this we splitted ourselves into two groups (girls v/s boys).
Once the positions were taken we started the debate by considering the following points from both the groups.
- Team boys – We are best in terms of education, we study at a higher level and manage great businesses.
- Team girls – No, even girls are best when it comes to education and managing other work like household chores.
- Team boys – Even boys are good at managing work at home along with office work, there are great personalities like Sanjeev Kapoor who is a male chef even though he is best at kitchen work like girls/women.
- Team girls – No doubt in that, but the way we girls keep the house, the cleanliness, cooking job is commendable. We do it with utmost fineness than boys.
- Team boys – I don’t agree with this, there are house husbands who take care of the house and the family, just like a homemaker female.
- Team girls – But they will do just a little bit of it and will be like “bass ho gaya” and then all of the rest of the things we girls have to do.
- Team boys – We are best, unlike girls we are not cowards, we have courage and that confidence which you girls lack abundantly.
- Team girls – It’s not like that, we too are very confident and best like you boys, there are many women who have made India proud with their confidence and determination for Eg. Kalpana Chawla – she is one of the best women astronauts.
After a serious debate, we had a discussion with the audience, and asked them their views on the gender equality concept. Many of them came up with good points that were highly appreciated. Lastly, it was concluded by saying that “strength has no gender” and “united we stand, divided we fall”. Then one of our professors also addressed the audience by giving more insights on the gender equality concept. After a healthy discussion session, we ended our event with good lessons to inculcate positive values into our lives.
